the chairlift ascends the mountain at night

slowly

I drift higher,

up and away

from one thousand

twinkling starlights

left behind me as

soft vibrations sway

my suspended seat,

and try to rock me

to sleep.

rising above the

pristine white blanket

that covers the

dim diorama below

the oscillating melody

of each

creak

and

churn

carries me further,

toward

the beaming glow

striking the trees that

cast soft shadows,

while the

cool night breeze

whistles

over the mountain top.

slowly

I drift higher.
