Trapped

There he sits—
A top his pride—
With only misery in his eyes—
There he sits- for days on end—
Until something gets ahold of him—
A bird—
A little red bird—
He raises his head—
He stares—he yearns—
to be like his little friend—
He longs to be free—with the wind in his mane—
But this Lion is defeated- his pride wrapped in chains—
His thoughts disrupted—his keeper throws him meat—
In reality his captor- is the one he wants to eat
He patiently waits—as tourists mock and harass
For the day he gets revenge—on the people behind the glass.
