The Player's Lament

‘William Shakespeare’, I don’t know–
He wrote of love, and he wrote of woes
He wore some silly little clothes
And probably had a whole bunch of foes
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
I think I’d prefer an autumnal stay
To dance on your stage and act out a play
Dress me up, do as you may
If I don’t fit into your verses and hymns
All your iambic pentameter whims,
Feel free to leave me to the less literate kin
I can’t think of a couplet, so- fin.
