The "Hike to Laguna Turquesa and Monte Carbajal" is a day-long journey through one of the most beautiful and least-visited areas of Ushuaia.
The tour begins from the hotel with a short transfer to the Tierra Mayor Valley, where an intense hike commences, rewarding participants with the marvelous color of a glacially-originated lagoon before reaching a summit with a privileged view.
The first part of the hike involves a steep incline, with the century-old lenga trees of the sub-Antarctic Fuegian forest accompanying the hiker. After 45 to 60 minutes of demanding walking, the forest is left behind, and from the heights, incredible views begin to unfold.
In addition to the small Laguna Turquesa, continuing to ascend along a rocky ridge leads to the summit of Monte Carbajal. From there, one can see the traces left by the glacier's path, which, during the last glaciations, descended towards the Beagle Channel, cutting through the Tierra Mayor and Carbajal valleys, shaping this landscape.
