Service Learning - Internships Courses
Faculty Guide
Faculty Guide
Integrating Service-Learning into your internship course can benefit students already taking the course by providing service learning credits (a graduation requirement). This also allows APU to highlight the great work done in the community through identified internship courses.
How can I make my internship course Service Learning (SL)?
1. Is your internship/field experience course off-campus, unpaid, and adheres to the service learning outcomes shown here?
2. If yes, then great news! These unpaid internships allows students to earn Service-Learning credits through the course. (Students can either earn credits through the Office of Spiritual and Discipleship and/or through our area: Academic Service Learning.)
1. Reach out to servicelearning@apu.edu sharing your interest.
2. After approval, a Service Learning Indicator form will be filled out by service-learning to have your course indicated as a SL course. Through this, students can see if a course has SL or not when they add classes.
3. The CCEL Career Development team will connect with you for an in-person orientation (beginning of semester) and an reflection (end of semester) that includes information on career development. The evaluations serve as a reflection for students.
4. A Service-Learning Coordinator (SLC) will coordinate the credits process including the inputting of credits to students accounts.
