Absolutely! Students can work multiple jobs on campus (as long as not more than 29 hours/week total), as well as off-campus. However, students can only work one CAP job at a time.
Since CAP positions are generally 5-8 hours per week, they make ideal, flexible 2nd jobs.
1) CAP submits a hiring requisition form for the position to APU's Office of Student Employment
3) The Office of Student Employment emails student with instructions/link to complete required hiring/training steps, including making an in-person appointment for verifying I-9 documents, APU Student Employment Handbook (policies), Sexual Harassment Policy Prevention (Calif AB1825 Full), FERPA, Campus SaVE act training, confidentiality agreement, & Workplace Safety Video
4) Student Employment informs the CAP office once hiring steps are complete and student is approved to work.
5) CAP notifies student and schedules brief onboarding for Community-based work study
You will be responsible for finding your own transportation to your work study job location. Many sites are within walking distance from the APU campus.
Additionally, students often choose to commute together to save on gas and time.
Although students typically work at off-campus locations for CAP jobs, they are hired as APU student employees and receive bi-weekly paychecks for hours worked. (Earnings are not credited directly to the student’s APU tuition account.) Students will use APU's timekeeping system to track hours worked.
