What are Community Advancement Programs (CAP)?
CAP is housed within APU's Center for Career & Community-Engaged Learning and collaborates with local nonprofits and community organizations to design and manage community-based Federal Work-Study opportunities. Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study (FWS) is part of a student's financial aid package and can be found in the student's home portal under the Financial Aid summary. If eligible, FWS will be listed along with other aid such as scholarships, grants, and loans. The award amount is the amount that can be earned through an on-campus or approved community-based job, utilizing these funds. For questions on eligibility or to explore an increase in the award amount, students should contact APU's Student Services Center.
Students with Federal Work-Study eligibility listed in their financial aid package may apply for CAP positions.
For complete details on eligibility, employment and hiring steps, as well as Frequently Asked Questions about FWS, visit the Office of Student Employment website.
Note: Graduate students are not automatically awarded FWS in their financial aid package, but may be eligible upon request. Students who would like to apply for any CAP positions should first reach out to APU's Student Services Center first to ask if it can be added.
