We believe in continuous improvement for STEM: Standard Fifteen. Therefore, we have implemented data talks with students to set goals. The MTSS chair meets with teachers regularly to discuss students and implement interventions. Students with interventions receive weekly probes to monitor data. We continuously have PLCs where we analyze student assessments and adjust the curriculum. Enrichment projects are planned for students who have mastered the curriculum to create and apply skills.
At SPARK, we strive for data-driven instruction and planning. Our students’ learning, reflections, and data help us know how we are doing as facilitators of learning as well as our needs for improvement. Our teachers participate in monthly data meetings where we look specifically at how we can focus our teaching strategies to improve the quality of instruction and student growth.
Reflection is also at the heart of our teaching and learning. Our students reflect on their growth and learning weekly at PLCs. This reflection helps guide teachers on spotlighting what students found meaningful and engaging in their personal learning as well as areas we may want to improve for future teaching. Teachers reflect at the end of every unit of study where we analyze student engagement, learning moments, successful teaching activities, and possible changes for future learning. Through this continuous review of data and reflection, we are able to continuously improve our lessons.
