AVID STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES AT JMMS:

I WILL MAINTIAN a 2.0 GPA and satisfactory citizenship and attendance in all classes or I WILL BE PLACED ON A PROBATION CONTRACT.
I will maintain enrollment in a college preparatory class (AVID).
I will maintain an AVID 3-Ring Binder (with calendar/agenda, Cornell Notes, assignments in all classes, and Tutorial Request Forms).
I will be an active learner, be prepared for all classes with assigned work completed, take Focused Notes (Cornell, 3 Column, etc.) daily, and be an active participant in all activities.
I will complete ALL homework assignments.
I will participate in AVID Tutorials at least twice a week. I will come to AVID class prepared for tutorial session with the TRF pre-work completed, AVID Binder with Cornell Notes, and textbooks or I WILL BE PLACED ON A PROBATION CONTRACT. I will use critical thinking, inquiry, and collaboration with my classmates to create a greater understanding about my point of confusion.
I will participate in AVID field trips and activities. *Any student with an F will not be allowed to attend field trip activities for the 9weeks in which the F was received.*
I will volunteer within my school and my community.
I will be respectful to ALL individuals

REMOTE LEARNING SCHEDULE AND GOOGLE MEETINGS

SCHEDULE

During remote learning we will meet synchronously for no more than 30 minutes each day through our Google Meet. During this time we will take attendance, answer questions, hold short lectures or student presentations, hold discussions, reviews, and go over assignments. Students will spend the remainder of the class period on their own, completing work, studying, etc.. You will meet with your Advocacy Teacher every Wednesday from 11:40-12:15. During this time on non-Advocacy days you will work independently or connect with your teachers for their Office Hours.

Students are REQUIRED to complete and submit the Attendance Form Assignment found in our Google Classroom within the first couple minutes of each class period. These have already been assigned in their Google Classroom. The assignment will open 5 minutes before the start of each period and close 2 minutes after the period begins. Announcements will be shown in 2nd Period.

GOOGLE MEET

To log onto our Google Meetings, please do the following:

Go to your Google Classroom
Click on the "Classwork" icon located at the top of the screen
Click the "Meet" icon at the start of your meeting. This icon (refer to image on the left) is located at the top of the page.
The link will not work until our meeting start time. If you log in 20 minutes early and are not able to access the meeting, don't panic, there isn't anything wrong with link, it will work at our scheduled meeting start time.
BE SURE TO FOLLOW ALL GOOGLE MEET EXPECTATIONS LISTED BELOW

All of our Google Meetings WILL BE RECORDED and students MUST log in using their APS EMAIL.

We do not have a textbook for our AVID class; however, I will upload all necessary resources and documents to the "Resource" section of our Google Classroom.
