I am so excited to work with this amazing group of 6th Grade students! I know they are going to accomplish so many great things both independently as well as together with their peers! AVID students provide assistance to their schools and communities, are leaders, role models, and a support system for their fellow students. It is my goal to spend the next 9 weeks introducing your child to the AVID program and all it has to offer. AVID is designed to recognize and address the areas of need as well as interests of your student while also showing them how to be role models and a leader within their school and home communities. Whether that is study skills, organization, communication and public speaking, task completion, interest in a particular college or trade school, profession and career path, volunteer activities, etc. my goal is to provide students with tools, enabling them to become the best student they can be, and design a curriculum addressing those needs and interests. In AVID Wheel students will have the opportunity to take a glimpse inside of an AVID classroom while addressing key classroom skills such as critical thinking, note taking, organization, reading strategies, creating presentations, and public speaking.
