ELA
We are currently finishing our unit on nonfiction text and will be moving to fiction stories after Thanksgiving. We will be wrapping up different nonfiction text structures here this following week and how to identify them.
Writing we will be wrapping on informative pieces based upon research and moving towards persuasive pieces at the end of the month.
4th Math
4th graders so far have practiced being able to solve complex word problems with multiple steps involved and now will move towards Multiplication using partial products to solve more difficult problems such as 3456 x 8 or 45 x 36. We will then move to solving conversion problems between units using this multiplication.
5th Math
5th grade math has practiced with decimals so far, we will wrap up both adding and subtracting decimals this next week. Then we will move over to adding and subtraction fractions with unlike denominators where students will first need to practice finding common denominators for numbers.
Social Studies
Before Thanksgiving arrives we will finish up our geography unit, focused on American states, capitals, regions and environments, and move back into science at the end of November beginning our biology lessons on the units of life.
