English Language Arts - The vast majority of 4th and 5th grade common core standards match each other very well. Occasionally they will have separate goals, primarily with grammar focuses.

Starting off the month we will be focusing heavily off being able to identify key details in texts and create summaries and main ideas of text. We will begin reading "Holes" as a book study for ELA with a focus on character traits and inferencing as well as answering text dependent questions.

4th Grade Mathematics - We will begin by focusing on understanding place value and being able to compare one place value to another, we will then be comparing, ordering and rounding whole numbers.

5th Grade Mathematics - We will begin by focusing on finding volume of three dimensional shapes, and reviewing multiplication with multi-digit numbers.

Science/Social Studies - For the first six weeks we will be focusing on science, and we will be beginnig with life science that looks closely at food webs and food chains.
