A few quick things to try at home before requesting help.
👨🎓Getting started with an APS StudentVUE account
Use this document to help you create your APS student account. It will walk you through setting up your StudentVUE, Google Chrome, and APS email.
🛟How can I maintain the life of my device?
Clean the screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
Never clean an electronic device with water.
Stickers must be school appropriate and completely removed prior to returning our device.
Students should keep label their name on their device and charger in order to deter theft.
Use two hands to open the lid and carry the device.
Close the lid before standing up and walking around with it.
NEVER pick up by the screen.
Store the device on a desk or table, away from the edge - NEVER on the floor!
Never leave the device unattended for any reason. After making a pass, close the device before leaving class.
Do not leave the device in a vehicle.
Protect the device from:
○ Extreme heat or cold
○ Food and drinks
○ Pets
⚡Device won't charge
Make sure the charger is pushed in firmly at both ends.
Try a different wall outlet.
Let it charge for at least 10 minutes before assuming it's broken. A fully dead battery can take a few minutes to show a charging light.
If it still will not charge, bring your broken charger to the Tech Office for a swap.* Swaps are only elligible for damaged chargers, not lost chargers.
*While supplies last.
🛜Can't connect to Wi-Fi
Double check the Wi-Fi password (case-sensitive). It should be the same password that you use to log into your Chromebook and StudentVUE.
Restart the Chromebook.
🔐Need Password Reset
Any teacher on campus can help you reset your password.
Or you can change it yourself HERE.
Requirements: Must include 3 or more capital letters, lower case letters, numbers, or special characters. May NOT include the student's first or last name.
📸How to Take a Screenshot
🐌Device seems slow
Solution 1: Restart the Chromebook and close any extra tabs. A restart will force an update that may be pending.
Solution 2: Manually check for updates.
⌨️Keyboard Damage
If a key comes off from normal usage, do your best to save all the pieces (keycap and hinge). Fill out the Help Form so it can be re-attached. Bring all the parts of the key.
If you have lost the missing key and components, check the Forms & Policies page for the damage/fee schedule. Removing keys on purpose or damaging the keyboard frame will result in a charge when your turn your Chromebook in.
🔌Chargers: Lost, Stolen, or Damaged?
LOST:
Every student will receive 1 charger when they get their device. If this charger gets lost or misplaced, you will be required to purchase a replacement.
DAMAGED:
If your charger no stops working or you see visible cord damage, report it using the Help Request Form. You must turn in the damaged charger in order to swap it out for a new one at no cost.
STOLEN:
If you suspect that your charger was stolen, inform your teacher immediately or complete the Help Request Form.
Where to purchase a replacement?
Replacements can be purchased through the district for $45. See the Tech Office for more information.
You can also purchase a replacement from a third party site. Make sure it is a USB-C charger with a 45W to 90W output adaptor.
Each student will be required to turn in a compatible charger (along with their Chromebook) at the end of the school year or upon a transfer.
💔Screen cracked or device damaged
Stop using the device to avoid further damage.
Submit a Help Request Form right away.
See Forms & Policies for the damage/fee schedule.
🌞End of Year Clean-up
