✅Student Use of Technology
APS provides Chromebooks for all students for educational purposes. If a student transfers to another APS school, their Chromebook - and charger - can either (1) follow them to their new school or (2) they can return it to EMS and check out a new device at their new school. Students leaving the district must turn in their APS Chromebook upon disenrollment.
At the beginning of each school year, APS asks that every student and their parents/guardians review the district's Acceptable Use of Technology and agree to abide by it. Students choosing to use a personal device must still abide by the policy.
❤️🩹Expectations for Device Care
Student will not leave the device unattended at any time while at school or in a public place.
Student will not remove the District barcode labels or mark the device in any way with markers, stickers, scratches, engravings, etc.
Student will not remove the hard drive and/or modify the device’s operating system in any way.
Student will not install any unauthorized software or browser extensions.
Student will notify school staff as soon as possible if device is lost, stolen or damaged.
⚠️Lost or Damaged Student Technology Devices
Current policy requires student technology devices and AC power adaptors to be collected at the end of each school year or upon transfer or disenrollment. Failure to turn in your assigned device may result in the student being charged a replacement cost.
If a device and/or AC power adaptor has been defaced or damaged beyond the normal wear, the student or family may be charged a fee for repairs or replacements. Families may also be charged for replacements if devices are lost or stolen. Students should notify administration as soon as possible of damage or loss so an investigation may take place. The school may withhold the grades, diploma, or transcripts of the student responsible for damage or loss of any technology devices or equipment until the parent/legal guardian or student has paid for the damage or loss.
This form is issued at the beginning of the year to all students (if a transfer student, within their first week). It should be completed by a parent or guardian and returned to the school. Once returned, the student will receive their device.
This form is issued to students through their classroom teacher. It should be completed by the student and returned to the same teacher. It aims to communicate clear expectations for appropriate technology use, as well as any consequences for purposefully damaging APS property.
This form is issued with the Chromebook and charger. It should be completed by a parent or guardian and returned to the school within a week of receiving the device.
It will be re-issued at the end of the year when devices get collected. It aims to create transparency regarding the condition of the device prior to student use. Failure to return the form at the beginning of the year means the school will assume the device was in perfect condition prior to student use.
This is a listing of all device fees for damage and/or repairs. Prices are recommended by the district and determined by the school. Fees will be issued if (1) gross negligence is proven, (2) multiple missing keys are removed, (3) deep scratches and/or cracks are apparent, (4) screen is damaged, and/or (5) there is liquid damage. The district will not charge for accidental damage or normal wear and tear from proper use. All fees will be communicated through ParentVUE upon inspection. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Eisenhower Middle School administration at (505) 292-2530.
