5 Day Reading Routine and 3 Layers of Support: Understanding Savvas myView in Consideration of ALL Students with Special Consideration for Students with IEPs for Special Education AND General Education Teachers
In accordance with NMPED's MLSS Manual (2021), "all students receive Layer 1-universal supports and instruction aligned to the New Mexico State Standards, that is delivered via Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Instruction to meet the needs of most students." What universal supports are available within Savvas myView to equip teachers in providing all students with Layer 1 instruction? Are there resources embedded within Savvas myView to support Layers 2 & 3? This session will provide elementary teachers with an understanding of the components of MLSS while exploring the routines and resources within Savvas myView that can be used to support all students in meeting grade level standards, including students with IEPs and English learners. Participants will also have an opportunity to unpack a Savvas myView Unit and Lesson.

This session will give an overview of the numerous opportunities for writing within Savvas myView. Participants will explore:
Savvas' structure of the writing process within each unit
Savvas' language activities
Writing in response to Savvas' weekly texts
The Special Education Department will provide a cost account for teachers serving students with an IEP. Special Education and General Education teachers are welcome to attend.
Participants will learn about the importance of phonemic awareness instruction, what this instruction looks like within the various layers of MLSS, how to use data to determine instructional needs for phonemic awareness, and how to monitor students' progress with these skills. Participants will learn to implement phonemic awareness instruction with Heggerty and/or Bridge the Gap.
Special Education and General Education teachers are welcome to attend.
The Math and Science Bureau (MSB) of the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is excited to announce the launch of Cohort 4 in Fall 2026 for NUMeROS (Numeracy Unlocks Math Rigor in Our Students) math micro-credential series.
NUMeROS is designed to build mathematics content knowledge for K–5 teachers and provide them with the resources needed to build strong conceptual knowledge and mathematical reasoning for elementary students. The K–2 and 3–5 teacher pathways are slightly different, based on major work of grade. Common Core developers indicate major work of grades should comprise 65–85% of instructional time over the course of the year.
Teachers will engage in a learning pathway over the course of the year. More information about the pathways are found in the links:
This retreat is for New Mexico high school teachers who will be teaching financial literacy during the 2026-2027 school year. This intensive course is meant to help teachers build a solid foundation of the knowledge and skills that they will help students learn in the classroom.
Spots are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are expected to attend all four days of the retreat, July 20-23.
Topics to be covered include: insurance, paying for college, capitalism, taxes, investing, behavioral economics, credits cards, credit scores, managing debt, budgeting, saving, and math literacy.
