Career-Credential Connections
Many middle schools have some career exploration opportunities, either through a class or school events. It's important to then also connect that career with an understanding of postsecondary credentials. Deliberate instruction about required credentials connects student learning to their career of interest. This impacts course selection and their progression towards that career through high school. Once a student has a career in mind, they need to know the postsecondary credential required so they can align their activities in high school with pursuit of that credential.
Listed below are some suggested Learning Targets to help professionals select activities to inform and enrich the career pursuits of the students.
We have created some modules to address some of these topics and they are linked in the Activities column. There are also resources from CFNC.org and NCcareers.org linked to the Suggested Enrichment Activities as well. Lastly, we are also partnering with Level All to additional content.
