Storage
Each LIL kit will have a number of components. The Learning Technologies team has developed efficient ways to store each kit with the classroom in mind. Schools will need to designate a central location to store the LIL kits when not in use. Please choose a location that will be secure, yet accessible to teachers at any time. Ideas include: book rooms, library, staff room, PLC spaces and other available storage closets/spaces.
Checkout & Check In
LIL kits will be located at your school in Destiny (materials management program), however, the school media specialist will not be responsible for checking in/out kits to individual teachers. Schools should develop a system that works for their staff. Examples include: paper/pen sign up sheets for each kit, Google Sheets calendar/sign up or a shared Google calendar.
Setting Expectations
All TechSmart teachers and administrators will have an opportunity to attend a professional learning session that will provide an overview of the LIL kit. We recommend that staff attend this basic training before checking out a kit. LIL tools should be thoughtfully introduced to students with an introductory lesson. We recommend teachers collaborate closely with their TechSmart coach for the introduction and to design further LIL lessons.
