CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
All of this info is also available on my website at www.msgarrettonline.com
Teacher expectations generated by the students will also be on the website.
Respect yourself and others:
No racist, sexist, or homophobic remarks will be tolerated
No name calling or harassing
Bring all materials to class
Respect your personal area and the school area-keep it clean
Chromebooks need to come to class everyday, fully charged
Phones will not be allowed in class*
Follow all school rules (see Franklin High School Student Handbook)
STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO KEEP CELL PHONES AND EAR BUDS IN BACKPACKS FOR THE ENTIRE CLASS. IF A STUDENT HAS A PHONE OUT, I WILL TAKE IT AND TURN IT INTO THE OFFICE.
Attendance/Tardy Policy:
• It is important for you to be in class everyday and on time with your materials
• You are considered tardy if you are not in your seat by the time the tardy bell rings. If you are late, you miss important information and instruction. Avoid these issues and BE ON TIME.
• If you have an excused absence it is your responsibility to get in touch with the teacher to make up what you missed within one week of your absence, however, some work cannot be made up. Please check the website first.
• See your student handbook for more information on the attendance policy.
Hall Passes
*Hall Passes are issued at the teacher's discretion (Official Franklin Hall Pass only)
*Issued only after the first 15 minutes of class/not issued the last 15 minutes
*Issued for a quick trip directly to and from your destination, 5 or so minutes
Late work policy:
It is important that you are in class and keeping up with the work. If you have had an excused absence that has been cleared with the attendance office, you need to come and see me at lunch or after school to get the work you missed. You may also want to email me. You have one week from the date you were absent to contact me.
In general, there will be a due date for all assignments. If you miss the due date, you may turn it in late for a penalty on your participation grade for up to one week from the due date. I will take some assignments after this period, but you must come in and talk to me and make arrangements. This is not for all assignments. Assignments that require class participation and time sensitive assignments (novel questions or quizzes, for example) cannot be made up.
REQUIRED MATERIALS/SUPPLIES: You will need the following supplies for this class—
A clear school and public library card
A blue or black ink pen to write with
An independent reading book
