Introduction and Overview

Welcome Students! This syllabus contains important information for you about our class. Please look it over and refer back to it when you have questions about class.

Our Subjects:

We will work this year to develop reading, writing, speaking, and thinking skills in many ways. We will write regularly in different formats and modes and read a range of literature, including novels, short stories, non-fiction historical accounts, and current news stories. In Social Studies this year, we will spend focus on the empires and kingdoms of the Medieval world, focusing on Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Western Europe between about 500 and 1500 CE. We’ll also focus on the ways that we can solve real world problems by being engaged members of our community and nation.
