Course Description
 Intermediate Art Studies is for second year art students or upperclassmen who have not had art but are interested in building their artistic skills. Intermediate Art Studies is also for students who are interested in taking Dual Credit Art the following year to receive three college credits from Portland Community College. Intermediate Art Studies curriculum builds and expands on concepts learned in Studio Art Foundations while introducing students to college level basic design. Students learn to experiment more in depth with various art techniques in a variety of media including collage , community based arts, silkscreening, drawing, mosaics, digital media and painting. Students learn the principles of design and elements of art through critical observation and studio practice. Art History from many cultures is woven into assignments. Students explore local galleries and gain inspiration from visiting artists and films. Studio arts assignments will be designed to develop critical thinking skills as well as appreciation for the arts.
