Course Description:
Dual Credit Option /Art 115 is a yearlong, challenging experience which will give you the tools to create a quality black and white portfolio at the college level. Art 115 is designed for those who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art and wish to develop mastery in concept, composition and execution of their ideas. Art 115 is not based on a written exam; instead, students submit a portfolio at the end of the school year. In building the portfolio, you will experience a variety of concepts, techniques, and approaches in black and white, designed to help you demonstrate your abilities as well as your versatility with techniques, problem solving, and personal ideas. Students are encouraged to visit and participate in art shows at local museums and galleries. Emphasis is placed on looking at how artists work in contemporary art and culture. Students earn both high school elective credit and 4 college credits for successfully completing the course.
