Intermediate Design/Visual Storytelling is a dual credit PCC class that explores practices and perspectives in visual storytelling methods through the use of tools and techniques such as photography, illustration, color theory, narrative, character, and design thinking.
Students will learn how these tools are used to create cultural meaning, influence societies, and tell personal stories, with an emphasis on anti-racism, cultural understanding, diversity, inclusivity, and social justice advocacy.
The course will present examples from contemporary artists and designers, and analyze how they put together their work and why. Students will practice these techniques in creative projects and technical demonstration of digital media, with the goal of honing students' agency and skills as storytellers.
