Grade 1

Art in first grade pushes the range in which mediums are used; allowing for growth and confidence within students and their work. The Elements and Principles of Art remain a main focal point where students are continuing to expand their creativity with line, shape, color, pattern, and balance. Honing in on specific color families, shape differentiation, printmaking and clay building techniques are just some of the ways we expand our creative minds in the art studio in first grade.

Students explore:

  • Drawing and Painting

  • Printmaking

  • Clay

  • Sculpture

  • Mix Media

  • Digital Art
