World Language
The world language department provides students with a proficiency-based program focusing on communication. Students learn a world language in an environment that encourages them to:
Progress in their ability to use the language
Be effective communicators in a global society
Explore and gain knowledge about diverse cultures
Make connections with other languages and areas of study
Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy
The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to seniors who have attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. Showcased on students’ diploma, and transcripts, it is evidence of readiness for career and college, and for engagement as a global citizen. Students may be enrolled in upper level language classes or be heritage learners of the language they would like to pursue for the Seal.
