(FOR SELECTED STUDENTS NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL AND OTHER PLATFORMS)
Woodmoor SLPs continue to implement a parent-coaching model for many of our students. If you have not yet had a chance to visit our Communication Partner Training section, please do so. Read and review the resources. This will help set everyone up for success with remote learning. Click here.
If you can only choose one resource, this video is excellent. It does take an hour to watch.
The Core Word of the Week is "Go"
Have students watch videos featuring the core word "go." Model how to find and select the word on their devices or communication boards while watching the videos. If this is easy, make it more challenging! Model sentences like "I want go" or "you go". Feel free to pause the video and watch as many times as you would like.
Links to communication boards can be found here.
Video Recommendations:
AAC Core Vocabulary: GO (A great video of a mother and sibling reading a book and talking about things that 'go'; 3 minutes)
The Ants Go Marching song (4 minutes)
The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round (2 minutes)
Choose one activity to complete 5 minutes each day. Focus on modeling the word "go" during this time. Review these ideas for an activity to try that you think your child would find fun. For example, hold all the puzzle pieces and model what each one is before giving it to your child (e.g. "I see (a) cow") to put into the puzzle.
A List of Home Activities with Ideas of How to Incorporate Core Words; (Activities listed that incorporate 'go': Watching TV, Shopping, Sensory Play, Reading Books, Playdough, On the Go, Mr. Potato Head, Getting Dressed, Cooking, Cars, Blocks, Bedtime, Arts & Crafts)
At the end of the week, don't forget to fill out your Speech Log (see your email)! Include the minutes you spent reviewing Communication Partner Training materials along with Core Word videos and activities.
