Mrs. Nunes Counseling Corner

Hello and Welcome

This site is geared toward the social emotional learning and needs for elementary students at Kenmore Elementary.  For students, you will  find information and activities that will expand your knowledge and practice of social emotional skills and ideas.  For parents and guardians, you will find a large range of resources about relevant topics and community assistance.

How can a school counselor help my child?

As the school counselor, I am a member of the educational team here at Kenmore Elementary - I'm an educator!  My goal is to teach students social-emotional skills and concepts that will help them throughout life.  I teach and support students through classroom lessons, small group instruction, and individual supports.

Here are some of the topics I discuss with students:

  • Friendship
  • Social Skills
  • Emotional Regulation (Controlling big emotions)
  • Anxiety
  • Coping & Resiliency Skills
  • Changing Families
  • Self Concept (Self-esteem)
  • Grief

*DISCLAIMER: School counseling support is not a substitute for students who need more intensive counseling or therapy.  If needed, I am happy to talk with parents about the process of finding a mental health provider outside of school.  Once this is set-up, I can also serve as a connection point between the school and the outside provider
