I encourage you to visit my more detailed About Me page, where you can find out things like:
My favorite food & season of the year
My favorite super hero
Places I spend my time
Hobbies
My educational journey
It's always a good reminder that behind that tough and scary title of "Professor" is an actual person and although I hope you will get to know me better after 16 weeks in class, this is a great place to start!
My preferred way to get in touch with me is through using the Canvas Inbox, however email (hokersl@arc.losrios.edu) is also a speedy way to communicate with me. I check these throughout the day, so you can expect a response within 24 hours (Monday - Thursday), except weekends, college holiday, or recess. Please be sure to include your full name, student ID#, and class information (PSYC 365 or HSER 330). Here are a few examples of how you might do that in email:
"Hi Professor Hokerson, this is Trinity from your PSYC 365 class..."
or
Subject: PSYC 365 Question about my Grade (Trinity N.)
If you do opt to send me a message through the Canvas Inbox, you don't have to include all of this information about yourself and the class because it is already included in the message - another great reason to use the Canvas Inbox!
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the activities and assignments?
Do you think you’re falling behind?
Are you confused or unsure what to do?
Do you need additional supports outside of the class resources?
I have set up my class for you to be successful, but if you feel like you are struggling and want to meet with me during my student hour, then please contact me as early in the semester as possible. I always encourage students to try to utilize all the resources posted in Canvas to answer most of your questions, but if you aren’t sure what you should be doing, have questions, or are thinking about dropping the class, do not hesitate to contact me!
