Determine your enrollment eligibility.
If you are not already a student within the Los Rios district, you need to apply to the college using this link: GET STARTED AND APPLY
You will need a student identification number (W#) in order to complete the application.
Gather the materials in the Checklist below prior to filling out the online application.
We suggest printing this document out and checking things off as you go.

Submit the application and required documents by Friday, April 4.
Provide recommenders with your name, student identification number and this link: Link for Recommenders (if recommenders prefer to share a recommendation in ASL, please ask that they tape via youtube or vimeo and send a link to Erica West Oyedele
Qualified applicants will be contacted via email, videophone, and/or phone numbers listed on the application. Qualified applicants will be asked to participate in a small group interview via Zoom beginning the last week in April.
There are many ways that you can prepare:
Interact with Deaf people!!
Review and practice with your ASL 1-4 materials.
Go to ARC's Deaf Culture & ASL-English Interpreting Resource Center (located on campus in TEW 405) and practice with the materials provided in the lab for current students.
Practice with other videos. Watch the ASL signer, paraphrase the presentation in ASL yourself, watch the ASL signer again and modify.
Videotape yourself and get feedback from others.
Work with a Deaf mentor.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the 2-hour information session that is offered at the beginning of each Spring semester via Zoom to learn more about the application, interview/screening process, and program expectations. Attending the information session is not required to apply for the interpreting program but is highly recommended. This year's information session is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 10am-12pm. There are no prerequisites to attend this session. Registration for the information session is required.
