The ASL-English Interpreting (ASLEI) program - commonly referred to as the IPP (interpreter preparation program) currently accepts students once per year for the Fall semester which begins in August. Applications for the Fall semester are available by February 15th. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by April 4, 2025.
Only qualified applicants who meet the educational requirements and follow the pre-enrollment procedures will be considered for the program. Meeting all these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview and screening process on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Please reserve this date in your calendar.
After Friday, April 4, qualified applicants will receive access to their candidate number, the location, and the time of their screening. Should the number of qualified applicants exceed the available space in the program, selection will be based on the rankings from the interview/screening process. The results of the screening process will be communicated to applicants by the first Friday in May.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the 2-hour information session that is offered at the beginning of each Spring semester via Zoom to learn more about the application, interview/screening process, and program expectations. Attending the information session is not required to apply for the interpreting program but is highly recommended. This year's information session is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 from 10am-12pm. There are no prerequisites to attend this session. Registration for the information session is required. Register here.
By the first Friday in May, candidates who successfully screen into the program will receive an email with the next steps they need to complete in order to enroll in the program. Please read this email carefully!
Upon acceptance to the program, all candidates receive a mentoring plan to be implemented the summer prior to their first semester of enrollment and attend a required program orientation. 2024 dates for mentoring and program orientation are below.
