Language Foundations & Conventions: Documents & Supports
Foundational language learning involves a continuum of knowledge and skills that develop over time. These foundational skills are central to learning to read and spell words, building vocabulary knowledge, developing fluency and strengthening comprehension.
The B2 Continuum (Language Foundations: Grades 1-4) & B3 Continuum (Language Conventions: Grades 1-9) outline knowledge and skills that are essential for student success in literacy. Each document outlines which specific skills to teach at each grade level. HPEDSB Resource Alignment documents have been created to align system resources to continuum skill areas.
