Percussionists have many different instruments to play in band class. We ask families to purchase the proper sticks and mallets that their student will play each school year. At the start of middle school, every percussionist is REQUIRED to have their own pair of snare drumsticks, medium soft xylophone mallets, and medium yarn marimba mallets for every band class. These sticks and mallets must be carried in a stick bag to and from school to protect the sticks and mallets from damage. In 7th grade, percussionists are encouraged to add timpani mallets and drumset sticks to their collection. In 8th grade, percussionists are encouraged to add medium yarn vibraphone mallets and marching snare drum sticks to their collection. An upgraded stick bag to hold more sticks and mallets is also strongly recommended by 8th grade to hold all of these sticks and mallets.
