Justice for the Swifties
By:Tasmyn Driessen
I’ll bet you know what a Swiftie is; A person who likes Taylor Swift. But do you know how much hate they actually get? As a Swiftie myself, I constantly receive hate everyday for just listening to her and liking her music. I don’t understand exactly what Taylor Swift, or the Swifties, did to receive this hate but I am sick of it. I have many reasons for listening to her, as she is an inspiration to me.
Taylor Swift’s songs never fail to make me wowed. Almost every song I’ve listened to of hers has made me feel something. Taylor connects to her fans on an emotional level. She has never had an album that wasn’t great. Personally, my favorite album is Speak Now, but I love all of her albums and her songs. She has broken many records and has received many awards. As explained by Business Insider, she just broke a record this year at the grammy’s when she won the album of the year. But this isn’t the only record she has broken. Taylor Swift has broken 17 records over the course of her music career. As you can see, Taylor Swift is definitely a powerful and inspirational woman in the music industry.
Now I’ve done some research, and have found some reasons, that are pretty dumb, on why people hate Taylor Swift. According to Celebhatelove.com, a reason people don’t like her is because she used to be a country singer and she is now a pop singer. I think that this reason is stupid and childish. If you like her country music more, then listen to her country albums. Taylor Swift can write pop music if she wants to. Another reason people hate her is because of her relationships. Swift has had 12 previous relationships before her relationship with her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Now, people get mad because she has had so many boyfriends. But if she were a male, no one would bat an eye. I believe this reason is sexist and unjust. Some say her relationship with Travis Kelce is a publicity stunt, but at this year's superbowl you could easily see that they love each other dearly by the way they hugged each other. Now, there are many other reasons why people hate her, but if I wrote them all I would be writing forever. Now for our third topic.
Many people dislike Swifties because of their passion for Taylor Swift. My classmate Liam Farrell says that, “Swifties are over passionate about Taylor Swift, which can sometimes be annoying.” Now, not to hate on Liam, but Swifties can also be compared to football fans. They’re very passionate about football and get very angry when their team loses. And don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against football fans, but they can sometimes be immature, just like Swifties often get.
In conclusion, Taylor Swift will always be an inspiration to me and I will always love her music. Many people hate her for reasons that are immature and childish. Finally, Swifties can sometimes be over-passionate, but football fans can too, and no one seems to hate on them. Again, I have nothing against football fans, but they can be very loud, just like Swifties. But, I will always love Taylor Swift and nothing can change that.

Should Schools Add Different Language Classes?
By:Bella Paris
If you have decided to take a language class, you may have noticed that there are limited options. There are only two options nowadays; Spanish and French. Of course, these are languages that are very common, as 500 million people speak Spanish and 76 million people speak French. They are also interesting and easy to learn.
But, in my opinion, when everyone knows them it gets boring. And when everyone knows it becomes pretty much pointless to learn. I believe we should have more language classes other than Spanish and French.
I speak 2 other languages, Dutch and Irish. Of course, I'm not fluent in them, but I find them both interesting. These languages, quite clearly, are not as common as Spanish or French. But the problem is that there are only two languages to learn now. What if you travel to a country that doesn't speak Spanish or French? Some people want to learn more than just basic languages, or some want to learn over three. But when you only have Spanish and French there are not many options to learn more.
Now, of course some schools teach German or Japanese but most don't. Even if they do, most of the time these are just basics. Worst of all, these classes are usually one to two years long. It takes longer to learn a language and be fluent. If you want to move to a new country, have fun trying to learn its language. I feel like we also should have language classes in middle school so we become more fluent in them. I feel like I want to learn Spanish, French, or more complicated languages. We should start learning them in 5th grade so that by the time we are in college we have the potential of being extremely fluent in them.
