Real Stories

Many people now face the harsh reality and consequences of vaping as a teen. These are only a few of many stories.

On August 15th of 2019, in Los Angeles CA, teenager Simah Herman was rushed to the Ronald Reagan UCLA medical center by her dad as she was struggling to breathe.

She said "I couldn’t drink water. I couldn’t move. Like, I literally just wanted to crawl out of my skin." Her first wish after waking up from a medically induced coma was to start a "No vaping Campaign". This was the first thing she did after waking up from a 5 day medically induced coma.

This is Jimmy Dougherty. A week after his 20th birthday he was brought into the hospital for severe lung damage due to vaping. He had to be put in a medically induced coma, sedated, and put on a ventilator because one of his lungs completely collapsed.

In 2020 a 15-year-old from Dallas Texas died from vaping. This was the youngest death Texas had seen from this cause. The Dallas County Health Director, Dr. Huang stated, "We are seeing that severe lung damage, and even death, can occur with just short-term use of these products.” The teenager had reportedly only been vaping for one month, but the chemicals in the vape mixed with an unidentified underlying health condition resulted in irreversible effects.
