Students in this course will learn elements and principles of design as well as the design process, from idea development through final execution of a product. Students will use various websites, programs, and software (including Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Cricut) to design a variety of products, including signage, logos, posters, documents, merchandise, and clothing. Following the design process, students will use equipment in the Innovation Center, such as the poster maker and Cricut, to bring their designs to life. Through regular social media assignments, students will also learn the basics of marketing in order to promote the school and their products. When possible, students will collaborate with school employees, community members, and business owners to create and market products needed for real-world situations. Through this process, students will develop important 21st Century skills, including creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, time management, organization, and communication.
