Welcome to our first unit! This unit focuses on the importance of setting and the development of a theme. Included on this page is the vocabulary for the unit (which is quizzed in sections), the study guide for the end of unit test, and extra resources if you would like to support your child at home! Your child will also bring the vocabulary and study guides home in their reader's notebook, but they will be here for you to use as well.

They will be quizzed by each section and will be required not only to know the definition, but also the part of speech, similar uses of the root word (example: we can say 'immigrant' but we can also say 'immigrate' - how is that similar and how is that different?), and be able to apply any roots to other words.
