Vision statement for project:
We are creating a resource list for the counseling students at Antioch Seattle to access for their own self-care and support needs. The idea is that we, as counselors, must take care of ourselves in order to be of service to others. The primary intention of this project is to find resources for counselors and counselor students to utilize for their personal well-being. To borrow from the Disability Justice movement, “nothing about us without us!”
The Antioch, Seattle Counselors for Social Justice chapter has created and will maintain the following community-based resources document.
Who is this for?
This resource list is for counseling students at Antioch to access for their own self-care, mental health and support needs. These resources are not provided by Antioch, but rather what we, as counselors and counselors-in-training, have found in Washington state, and nationally (depending on the service) to be helpful to us and our colleagues.
How did we choose these resources?
Each resource provided here is one that a CSJ member, or trusted colleague, has personally engaged with, or can confidentially vouch for and found value in its efficacy.
What if I have a resource I think should be added to this list?
We also accept counseling student submissions and edit requests based on the following criteria:
I have utilized this resource myself and can vouch for its efficacy
A trusted mental health professional colleague of mine has utilized this resource and can vouch for its efficacy. I must know this person (no friend of friend's recommendations).
What if I have an edit or think a resource should be removed?
This is a community-based resource, and as such we do our best to vouch for the resources included. However, if you have a concern with one of the listings please let us know.
Categorization
Our community based resources exist within a living document. categories, sub-categories, and offerings are routinely up for review as we gather and edit resources.
