Book Club
Our book club is collaborating with Spectrum once again to host a reading of Care Work: Dreaming Disability Justice, by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarahsinha. This book is foundational for anyone looking to better understand the concept of disability justice, an intersectional grassroots perspective that centers the experience of the most vulnerable in our society as the path forward to change. This book will challenge for many what it means to be disabled or able bodied, how we look at care work itself, and what does it mean to be an activist.
Reading the chapters is not mandatory to attend, though it is encouraged. Alternative media will be sent out including videos, short articles, and more to enrich the learning experience and make it more accessible. Chapter summaries and reflective questions will be sent roughly 1-2 weeks out ahead of meetings to guide the reading process.
Meeting times will be:
Feb 25, 2026 03:00 PM
Mar 25, 2026 03:00 PM
Apr 22, 2026 03:00 PM
