Video Production

Purpose: The purpose of the Video Production Project is to experience how outlining and planning are important for producing high-quality results.

“Morning Routine” script Video Production

Script Format Practice

Scripts and screenplays require a specific writing format. This helps directors and actors find important information quickly. I watch the first scene of a short film called "Morning Routine" by BritANick. I watched it and then created a script from the first scene.

Script Writing

This is my script called "Normal Students." It is about two aliens that have snuck into a school to scout out planet earth for their invasion force.

Storyboarding

This is the storyboard for "Regular Students." I crossed off shots as we filmed them.

Filming

Filming went pretty smoothly. The storyboard was very useful for remembering what shots we had to film. As we captured each shot I crossed it off on the storyboard.

We set up establishing shots outside the school and outside each room we filmed in.

We used lights to create a spooky atmosphere inside the PE storage room.

Voice overs were done with zoom mics.

After filming, I uploaded all of the footage to google drive.

I used VideoSpin software to edit the footage together. I did not capture any pictures of the editing. I also used music from Kirk Osamayo which I found on free music archive.

Finished Film

This is the final version of Regular Students uploaded to youtube. Currently it has 8 views and 1 like.

Video Production Project Reflection

Describe the final results:

The video turned out good. I think it is both awkward and funny at the same time. It took more time than I thought considering the video is only 3:16 long.

What do you know now that you didn't know when you started this project?

I learned how to write a script in the write format

I learned how to create a storyboard

I learned how to use lights and sound during filming

I learned how to edit a video together

What advice would you give to future students about this project?

If the shot isn't what you wanted, film it again. Film more that you think you need.

What else would you like to try that you didn't have time for?

I would like to add some blank space between scenes to create a bit of transition. Right now scene transitions are too quick.

What proof do you have that shows you learned the project’s purpose?

My storyboard really help me remember what shots I still needed to get. It was a great plan to have.
