Digital arts is a class in which students lear about being a better digital artist. We have learned about the C.R.A.P. design principles and how to implement them in digital designs. We have also learned about the basics of photoshop. We have learned about replacing a face on photoshop as well as adding color and texture to images. Digital arts helps animas student succeed in the cyber world.
C.R.A.P. Posters
The C.R.A.P. design principles are the design techniques of contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity. These principles help to create an aesthetically pleasing and blanched digital work. Whether working on posters, business cards, flyers, or a website, it is important to keep the principles in mind. This helps to create a cohesive yet visually interesting piece. These aspects are utilized throughout my poster in colors, fonts, shapes, weight, and size. I choose to vary font and the page arrangement, but I kept the colors consistent, and used consistent shapes and alignment for subtext. My posters use a minimalist, classy style. I chose light pink, black, and white colors. I used shapes, their size, color, and arrangement to demonstrate the C.R.A.P. principles. I think my poster demonstrates a cohesive design, and the C.R.A.P. principles well.
Album Covers
at the beginning of the semster, we created album covers. This was an intorduction on how to use canva and make cohesive digital design. I choose to base my cover off of Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department. I admire taylor swift as an artist, and I though it would be interesting to do a take on this album cover. I used a balck and white photo of one of my foster puppies to replace the original image. This was a great way for me to show some of my personality.
Teacher Creature Project
For my teacher creature project in digital arts, I choose to edit the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Poster. This poster incorporates texture, color, shadows and unique poses. I took pictures of four of my teachers at Animas and made sure they had the right posture and positioning in my photos. I took pictures of Oliver, Ashley, Madi, and Alexi. I then cropped them and aligned them with the faces in the Original Eras Tour poster. I then had to adjust the hue on the faces to color them as well as darkening shadows and adding texture to the faces. I had to experiment a lot with the different tools on photoshop and I learned much more about being a creative and curious digital artist. I am very pleased with how my poster turned out. I think it is a great start in the photoshop world. This poster speaks to my love for music, and my creativity. I enjoyed showing a bit of my personality through this project.
My passion project is an artistic expression in the form of a magazine. My magazine partner Anya is a passionate dancer. She requested that I reflect this passion in her magazine. By utilizing a black-and-white picture of Anya dancing, I created a simplistic design stemming from the color and attitude of the photo. I used greyscale as my main color pallet, and my accent color was a bright red that created a striking contrast. I choose to express Anya’s interest in dance by adding a gradient arrangement of dance words that both adds to the artistic aspect as well as the dance interest in this magazine. The articles included in this design reflect both the dance passion of my partner as well as her interest in travel and her dedication to fostering kittens. My magazine is a cohesive design that includes both my partner's passions and an aesthetically pleasing representation of these passions.
