Levels of Medical Emergency for Fosters

Please review the information below to determine what type of medical emergency you have and what to do. 

Red Alert: Immediate Phone Call to Phone Number Listed Below

• Bleeding profusely

• Hit by a car or otherwise seriously injured

• Having trouble breathing

• Unresponsive

• Ingested a dangerous item

• Unable to stand or walk

• Seizure/disoriented/drunk walking/ataxia

• Profuse vomiting or diarrhea, causing the animal to be unable to stand

• Chewed or removed sutures WITH noticeable bleeding or large opening

Red Alert Emergencies: 

Between 10am-6pm call ACL at 708-848-8155

After Hours Foster Emergencies: 

 Log into your Vidaah Account and Chat with a Vet through this link! (Create a profile if you have not already)

Green Alert: Fill out the Green Alert Form

• Vomiting for more than 24 hours, more than once

• Cut or puncture wound

• Lethargy/low appetite/not eating

• Coughing/sneezing/nasal discharge

• New limping

• Itchy skin

• Watery/goopy eyes

• Dirty/stinky ears (with or without head shaking)

• Broken nail

• Hot spot or hair loss

• Visible worms in stool

• Straining to urinate/blood in urine

• Diarrhea for more than 24 hours

• Chewed or removed suture staples

Green Alert: You will recieve a response within 2-3 Business days or intructions directly from the form.
