I was a couselor for Product Design II class at DesignX, a camp that aims to foster creativity and a maker mindset in K-12 grade students.
I taught basic woodworking to students age 7-14. I taught tool/shop safety in addition to lessons on how to use the band saw, chop saw, scroll saw, sanders, and hand tools.
We emphasized providing a safe environment for students to get hands-on experience and gain confidence in new tools.
I had to differentiate my teaching for the varied age groups, to account for their differing experience-levels and fine-motor skills.
