Week 6

This week I decided to learn how to read/write Thai. I think it would help a lot with pronounciation and since the writing is everywhere I can get consistent practice. The problem is that it is a completely different writing system with its own rules that I need to learn from scratch. Thankfully, my friend gave me a pdf that I am using to learn it. The main struggle I am running into is knowing when words start and end.

I also went to the area of Chulalongkorn University again. This time we were actually able to ride the scooters around the park. It was super fun and so much cheaper than Spins.

Some complex vowels

Thai has a lot of vowels, some of which are dipthongs. It's a lot to remember.

grass jelly with milk

I grew up eating a lot of grass jelly. When I was a kid, I would put brown sugar on grass jelly from a can and eat it with a spoon. This way with the sweet milk is even more delicious. I am lactose intolerant but I don't care.

Watching Thai series in my room

This series is called I Told Sunset about you. Its a romance drama between two men that are also two very popular celebrities/singers in Thailand who were dating at he time of filming the show. However, the guy playing the toxic guy got cheated on by the guy who plays the nice guy. It's an entertaining watch.

Snack friend gave me

This snack, I forgot the name, originates from western Thailand. It tastes a lot like Thai tea if it had less sugar. The texture is kind of rubbery. The initial bite has no taste but later has a stronger aftertaste. I like it, to the point where I finished the bag before handing it back to him.

Groove

Picture of the eating area naer my apartment. Lots of university students! This place is also so filled with mosquitos so I have to cover up my entire body before coming here if I want to come out unscathed.

Eating at my new favorite spot

Its on the street across from the University. Its fried noodles with chicken, some seafood, in Mala sauce. Soooo good. My friends are upset I take photos of them.

Sleeping instead of studying

Normal practice here. I feel at home since I do this normally.
