Getting started
You've decided you want to get started with, but where do you then start?
There are actually two ways in which you can be introduced to myDRE: either you request your own first workspace, or you are invited by others to join myDRE. When you're invited, you'll receive instructions through e-mail on how to proceed. In our Workspace Management video, we elaborate on how to invite others.
In this video, we'll focus on the first: requesting your own workspace, because this requires your initiative.
Workspaces are quick and easy to set up; usually, you will have access within one or two working days.
Once your workspace is ready, you will receive two e-mails:
The first contains your new @mydre.org username. This is for your new account with which you log into myDRE. Please follow the instructions in this e-mail to activate your account.
And a second e-mail with details about your new workspace. In this message, you'll find instructions on how to access your workspace through the myDRE portal. When you first open up your workspace, it's without much on it yet. It's up to you to possibly introduce members, data, and more software to it. You will learn how to do this in later videos.
Ultimately, your workspace is set up, equipped with data and software, and ready to be used by the workspace members. So what does the work in the workspace look like?
The regular business of the workspace is of course data analyses. To this end, members may upload additional data, and they may open up Virtual Machines to perform analyses with the available software. Later videos elaborate on how to bring data in and out of the workspace, and how to work with the data on the virtual machines. At the same time, the Accountable needs to manage the workspace in terms of member access, software, resources and costs. Our workspace management video gives more insight into what obligations come with being the Accountable for a workspace. At some point, the analyses in the workspace are done. Then it's time for the Accountable to request the deletion of the workspace after the data has been first downloaded.

Lastly, there is a Community forum where you can put forward your ideas and questions to fellow DRE users.
So myDRE support is a resources that can help you throughout the life cycle of your workspaces. We ask you to continue using myDRE support for your requests and questions. Only if there's no reply there, please contact your institution.
