Scratch is a visual programming language that allows students to create their own interactive stories, games and animations. As students design Scratch projects, they learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
Scratch is suited for grade 3 and up. We are unable to obtain a student data privacy agreement with the vendor so students are not allowed to use their APS email addresses log into the online program. The Scratch offline editor is on Chromebooks for all 3rd - 5th grade students. Scratchjr is suited for PK-2. The The Scratchjr. app is on all student iPads (issued to all gr. Pk-1 students as well as departments e.g., Art and Music).
Here are some great activities to try with your students! Debug the code! (It's OK for students to use the online version, they cannot sign in). You could have them download them ("Save to your computer" the Debug files then open (Import) in Scratch Offline Editor.
