There is a list of applications that the district subscribes to and/or supports. It can be found in the EdTech Folder in Classlink. Any tool that requires students to enter Personally Identifiable Information (PII) which could be name or email address, requires a student data privacy agreement (DPA). The list linked above contains all the apps for which we have student DPAs. Learn more about student data privacy.
The new process for requesting apps (October, 2023) is to have all requests for new software/apps. funnel through program coordinators (for documentation and to ensure alignment with program goals, etc.) There is a "Request for Apps and Online Learning Tools" option in the APS Work Order System in the EdTech folder in ClassLink.
Requests for new software applications will be submitted through the following process:
Share your interest in the app/program with your program coordinator or if appropriate, your building principal.
See the Request form linked above to determine what information will be required: include app/program description, cost, and need for teaching/expected student learning outcomes, whether students will log in (which provides their Personally Identifiable Information - PII)
If it is approved by the program coordinator/principal, they will submit a work order on your behalf to request the app/program. Here is a screencast showing the process for submitting the request. Any ticket submitted by a teacher will be returned as requests must be funneled through program coordinators/principals.
This will begin the process of first vetting for student data privacy and then move through the appropriate steps to acquire the app/program.
This request goes into our ticketing system and from there we check to see if the app is secure and if we will need a student data privacy agreement (DPA) with the vendor. We also look at efficacy: is it the best tool for the job? Do we have existing alternatives? Sometimes it's a quick process, but sometimes it takes longer when we have to work with the vendor to get a DPA. The Information Technology (IT) department also vets the app for security, compatibility, etc.
Many of these are on your (students and staff) ClassLink Launchpad. (Learn more about Classlink) If you don't see a tile for the app, search the app library (+ sigh to the right of "Andover SD"). Some apps are only available for specific grade levels (e.g., SeeSaw is for grades PK-2; Keyboarding without Tears is available for grades 2-5).
