Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies

I'm Allen Kay and I'm the 7th grade Social Studies teacher at Southwood Academy of the Arts! I have been teaching 12 years. This is my 9th year at Southwood. I enjoy playing the guitar and sports, especially basketball. I am married to my beautiful wife, Jessica, and we have a wonderful son named Henry.

I look forward to a great year!

Materials

3 ring binder (at least 1inch)
4 dividers (1 – bellbusters, 2- notes, 3- maps, and 4- study guides)
Pencils, pens, colored Pencils, highlighters etc.
Loose leaf paper

Grade Components

Major Grades (Tests, Projects, etc.) - 60%

Minor Grades (Quizzes, Classwork, etc.) - 40%

Makeups and Late Work

Students must complete make up work as quickly as possible once you return to school. Work may be made up during lunch on THURSDAYS. Students must fill out the “Missing Work Form” (found under “classwork” in google classroom) after a missing assignment is completed. Missing assignments will not be graded unless the missing work form is completed

Abscences

Students should ALWAYS check google classroom to see what they missed when they are absent. Google slides for each unit will be shared at the beginning of each unit. I post which slides we went over everyday so that students can still get the notes if they are absent.
