This course is designed for all cadets. This course is broken down into three study areas: Aviation History, Leadership Education and Wellness/Physical Fitness. Curriculum rotates each school year between LE/AS 100, LE 200/AS 220, LE/AS 300, and LE/AS 400. Aerospace science covers broad topics such as aviation history, the science of flight, world cultures, and introduction to space. Leadership curriculum covers Drill & Ceremony, good citizenship, life skill & career opportunities, and fundamentals of leadership & management. Wellness/physical fitness activities are conducted weekly , to include 1 day of planned physical activities. Freshmen can earn Physical Education credit in SC with this class and completion of the same computer-based training modules as PE 1 class.
The Honors Senior Project is primarily targeted for senior cadets in a three- or four-year program. However, it is not uncommon for other academically successful cadets enrolled in Advanced Placement, other Honors, or in an International Baccalaureate program to successfully complete this project. Subject material for Aerospace Science 5 MUST come from Holm Center/HQ AFJROTC provided curriculum materials. All materials including the grading rubric for the Honors Senior Project is posted in WINGS (HQ AFJROTC information database).
This course is a specialized class for cadets who meet the age requirement and have permission of the AFJROTC Senior Instructor. This course is broken down into three study areas: FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Licensure preparation, Leadership Education and Wellness/Physical Fitness. At the end of the class, students will be prepared to register for and pass the Federal Aviation Administration standardized test to become a licensed drone pilot. This testing must be done outside of class at an authorized testing center. Leadership curriculum covers Drill & Ceremony, good citizenship, life skill & career opportunities, and fundamentals of leadership & management. Wellness/physical fitness activities are conducted weekly, to include 1 day of planned physical activities. Leadership and wellness activities will mirror the other AFJROTC classes.
