Physical: Logistical challenges related to poor infrastructure and long distances to reach underserved areas are expected. To minimize this risk, the action will hire a vehicle for easy accessibility.
Social: Unresponsive and rigid attitudes/cultures among community members and service providers towards the target beneficiaries also pose a risk. This will be addressed through awareness-raising and sensitization activities and involvement of the local community and stakeholders at all levels of implementation from the earliest stages of project planning. High illiteracy levels might hinder understanding of Human rights –this will be addressed through mentorship and use of vernacular language, smallholder farmer's champions, and role models from the same community.
Economic Risks: High poverty levels – the project is targeting the rural poor hence the activities will be conducted at the village level and information on alternative sources of livelihood will be provided during the sessions.
Political: Community-led participatory approaches will be employed to allow Mwanachi to own and drive the process.
Sustainability: The project will invest substantial effort into individual, local community structures and duty bearers to enable continuity of activities and results and increase the ability of those involved to respond to changing situations and arising needs. Local ownership will be created by involving locals. Sustainability is also boosted by capitalizing on synergies with other activities of the partners, linking with government facilities, and ensuring alignment with national, county, and constituency policies and plans will further ensure continuity after the auction ends.
