Pike's Peak Atrium Incoming Group Leader's Message
Beloved Fraters and Sorors,
The Rosicrucian Order encourages us to be walking question marks. But what exactly does that mean?
Many of us have the idea that it means we need to question everything, to never be satisfied that some statement is not just a dogma, or someone else's opinion. That's a useful assumption to make to begin with, but it may actually limit us. I'd like to suggest we can take this question mark philosophy to a more interesting level.
What kinds of questions do you ask? Making sure a statement is not just an opinion can be a rather judgmental attitude. What if people have reasons for their opinions? Or what if you could build on their opinions? What if you could blast through any opinion or even fact without judging it, to allow you to accomplish much more than anyone thought possible?
Asking the right kinds of questions can help you accomplish miracles, fraters and sorors. Questions like “How can I shift this opinion so it's more useful to today's needs?” or “How can I use this problem to grow myself or my business?” or “How can I use this stressful situation to help me grow?” are just a few open-ended questions that speak not only to your sense of adventure, but also to your subconscious.
Our world is filled with drama, conflict from many sources that evoke what many of us think of as dangerous, or at the very least, scary emotions. Those scary emotions can incite conflict and war, or we could use them as action signals – signals that something simply needs to change. We could ask ourselves questions such as, “What constructive action can I take as a result of this emotion to help me turn this situation into a win for everyone?” or “What exactly about this emotion am I afraid of, and how can I turn that fear around for everyone's benefit?”
Well-constructed questions can help us move mountains. They can also reframe our entire world, resulting in new insights and motivations.
What questions can you ask, to change what most people think are even immutable laws into wonderful new insights that result in amazing accomplishments? How can you use questions to turn an attitude of Curiosity into a world that works much more effectively for everyone?
With all good wishes for Peace Profound, I am
