The Amherst Exempted Village School District is located in Amherst, Ohio and oversees Powers Elementary School, Nord Middle School, Amherst Junior High School, and Marion L. Steele High School. The Amherst Band Program serves nearly 400 students grades 5-12 who participate in concert band, jazz band, marching band, and color guard. The Amherst Band Program owes its success to the strong booster, administrative, and community support it consistently receives.
Why choose band?
Band is more than just learning to play an instrument - it is learning to solve problems, hold yourself accountable, work as a team, and be a leader. Being in the band is being part of something bigger than yourself.
Through the medium of music, we partner with families to develop the life skills that all students need to succeed long after high school. While 100% of our seniors graduate annually, only a fraction will pursue music as a career. Most of our students will pursue a variety of other passions, taking the friends and memories they made as a part of band with them for the rest of their lives.
